After being frustrated by the lack of SysEx tools for Linux that allow simple up- and downloading of patches on my Microkorg I did what every mediocre hacker does.
And thanks to the very detailed documentation provided by Korg this was pretty simple. (Really, this is how every hardware manufacturer should do it!)
This tool allows you to download the currently active patch from your Microkorg and upload patches to the edit buffer from where you can save and edit them.
Communication is done either via legacy OSS midi ports at /dev/midi* or using the ALSA rawmidi ports at /dev/snd/midi*.
mksd can also print a rough description of a downloaded patch like the name, voice mode and oscillator settings and rename downloaded patches.
